Jess has been up at Camp 2 for several days acclimating and is due to come back to basecamp today. Word is that she made it up the wall of blue ice yesterday to touch Camp 3. Way to go Jess! I’m sure she is looking forward to well-earned rest and some Wi-Fi access.
MB is now waiting for her window to head up to Camp 1 and 2. Unfortunately, a big snowstorm is predicted for tomorrow so it still may be a few days.
Here’s a little picture of basecamp life. A shower is on the agenda for this morning. It consists of a tent with a mat on the floor, a big bucket of hot water and a small pail for pouring the water over yourself. It actually works really well and makes life at camp nicer. We also have a washing area for clothes which is quite convenient.
MB and Ngima have been making some TikTok videos. Ngima definitely has more rhythm than MB.
We pulled out the dice yesterday and started playing FARKLE in the dining tent.
MB also had an opportunity to talk with the leader of the icefall doctors who establish the route and make repairs as needed. They are also responsible for making sure the trash is taken off the mountain. We have definitely settled into life on the mountain.
