Rest and Recovery in Namche

A view of Namche Bazaar at 11,285ft elevation, more oxygen than base camp

I’ve been resting and recovering in Namche for the last 5 days and I’m feeling about 80% recovered. I still have a cough but its severity is drastically reduced. I went to the doctor and got the green light to return to the mountain.

I’ve been hiking every day and the change of scenery, food and atmosphere have recharged me mentally and physically. I’ve been eating a lot of my meals at a restaurant called Eat Smart which has great fresh food. As a sendoff, they made me a chocolate brownie with a note written in chocolate wishing me the best. I’ve also made friends with a number of young trekkers from all over the world. Thanks to Zac and Maria for aiding my recovery with some competitive card games. I’ll be flying back to basecamp probably tomorrow and will wait for the right window to make my summit bid. Thanks to everyone for all the well wishes. I hope to follow in Jess’ footsteps as she successfully reached the summit of Mount Everest today! Congratulations Jess, you are amazing!
