Today we rested. Jess headed over to the Climbing the Seven Summits base camp to spend some time catching up with friends while Mary Beth did a small hike around basecamp. After the hike, Mary Beth was struggling with a respiratory illness and chilled in the community dome tent. Danika Gilbert, a mountain guide from Ridgeway Colorado stopped by to visit. She is guiding Shawn Cheshire up Mt. Everest followed by Mt. Lhotse which will make Shawn the first blind woman in history to do this double ascent.
Danika is also working with a group of young women from Afghanistan navigate life as refugees through climbing mountains. There are so many incredible people on this mountain.
