Kathmandu April 3-4, 2023
This morning the rest of the team arrived in Kathmandu looking weary but excited. We’ve been busy organizing gear, doing a little shopping in Thamel (an area of the city with lots of souvenirs and climbing related things), and sightseeing. Tomorrow we fly to Lukla and begin our trek!

We toured through Patan – Durban Square – which is situated in the center of the city and is one of three squares in the Kathmandu Valley, all of which are UNESCO World Heritage Sites. It is the hub of business since the Malla Dynasty. It is the home to ancient temples, artifacts and old Newari Residence.

We went to the Boudhanath – the largest stupa in the world.

I love eating the traditional Nepalese monos.

And of course we had to visit the Monkey Temple – Swayambhu which is an ancient religious site atop a hill considered the home of Tantrik Energy and the most scared Buddhist pilgrimage sites.

Great pictures. Those dumplings look absolutely amazing. Now I really wish I’d come along for this adventure! So glad everyone arrives safely, baggage intact. Bon voyage!
Loving this blog! I’m checking back often and thinking of your adventure everyday. Go Mary Beth!!!!
Have the best time ever!
